Interval bangs!!!!

I would like to share some of my best movie interval experiences. When the Interval frame is so nicely handled such that audience eagerly awaits for the remaining half of the movie, most people call it as Interval bang. Usually its conventional in Indian cinema that something unexpected is expected to happen during the interval and some movie makers will take so much care with the scenes almost equally to that of a climax or opening sequences. Here i would like to share some interval bangs for which i felt thrilled.
My first such experience i remember is a movie 'Roja' directed by mani rathnam. The opening scene in the movie starts off with a gun battle between the Indian army and terrorists. Then in few minutes the movie takes a huge turn transfering us to some remote location in south india where people are completely ignorant of the happenings in kashmir. The movie is now completely a romantic love drama between a city husband and a village wife. But as you keep watching it you enjoy the romantic drama ut at the same time your sub concious mind expecting something to be happened. And then the time has come where terrorists attack arvindh swamy all of a sudden at a temple with guns and masks and his wife roja played by madhubala runs after the terrorist vans in the interval scene. That very scene shown with lot of intensity in it made me remember it for a long time. Whenerver i watch the movie i used to wait for the scene.
I remember another movie 'CRIMINAL' which is a remake of 'FUGITIVE' also had a good interval scene though the movie did a bad run at the box office. I remember the scene where nagarjuna esacapes from the police van while on his way to the prison. In my opinion the very scene was very well handled indicating the audience to fasten their seat belts. I remember the dialogue by nasser ( played as cop ) ' railway stations, hospitals, check posts, bus stops anni vethakandi denini vadilipettakandi, anni vehicles search cheyandi.... press ki photos pampinchandi... paripoyina khaidhi peru Dr. Ajay varma.....INTERVAL'.
After some 8 to 9 years later and that is the time when i completed my intermediate and about to join in GITAM college. A Jr.NTR movie got released which is well known for its intervel bang. That very movie had a tremendous impact where people started talking about interval scene. I never heard before that movie people saying that interval is great. But after this movie many movies started concentrating on the interval scenes. In my opinion it a trend setter for interval bangs. The movie is 'SIMHADRI' directed by rajamouli. Rajamouli is special as far as intervals are concerned. People talk about his interval scenes in the movies.
And a couple of years later i saw a movie in Jagadamba theatre with lots of crowd. The movie is 'Chatrapathi' where the movie ends at interval. There will be tremendous emotion packed scenes during the interval. The interval emotion is too high where the audience are amazed and expects the same in the second half. But the second half comes down. If by chance the emotion continued in second half of that movie prabhas would have become a super star overnight.
So thats it... i am awating for a movie now with such an intense interval pack.

Wait for my next post titled ' Pyaar Love Prema Kaadhal - on love stories in movies '

Inaudible movie experience

I have had watched many movies in theatre, but i cannot forget two experiences which i rate them personally as my best movie experices till date.
Do not expect any hi-fi multiplex theatres and sound systems. Both of them were in amalapuram. Let me tell you why i gave a title 'Inaudible', thats becoz i could not even hear a complete dialogue or song inside the theatre. All i heard was the noice of the crowd going crazy watching their favourite star delivering his best. The first experience came in venkatrama (dts) theatre in amalapuram. It was 5 0 clock early in the morning of Jan 14th year 2004. I think some of my close friends might have got the name of the movie by now. Its 'VARSHAM'. I used to visit my cousins in amalapuram every sankranthi. Year 2004 has some specliality in it , as i joined in engineering in 2003 september in GITAM clg... and by 2004 Jan 2004 its almost the end of ragging phase in our college. Its like transformation of a boy to a man kind of happenings in my life. I liked my college a lot and i got some kind of cast feeling in the first six months due to some happenings in the college. And now i thought of watching a movie which casts hero of my own caste and my intention got materialised by sankranthi 2004.
We all woke up early in the morning had bath and by 5:30 went to a temple in amalapuram where we waited for the box. There is some small puja offered to the box wishing for the film's success. By 5:45 the puja got completed and we left to the theatres by 6:00. The crowd started acting crazy the moment the hero appeared. ( Remember prabhas entrance in VARSHAM). I could not hear a single dialogue and no one is bothered about the story. They know only one thing at the moment just shout and throw papers on the screen. Half of the theatre is standing on the chairs. By interval there was pepsi all over the place. It more or less like a pub without beer.By that time the movie got a superhit talks from all over the state bhimavaram, vizag and hyderabad. I called one of my friend in viswanath theatre kukatpally and he said that its a silver jubilee. Everyone was on their phone hearing public talks. The movie got over i could not hear even a single dialogue.
I have had a similar experience after two years from then 2007 Jan with the movie 'YOGI'. I cannot rate the movie with varsham though. There was huge fireworks and banners all over the place. I came to amalapuram without sleep for the past 48 hours as i was travelling from bangalore and then to kakinada. I had to start at 2 AM from kakinada to amalapuram on a bike. It was a very cold nioght as it was in the Jan month. Though YOGI did not do well its one of my best movie experiences.
I can rate another experience which is almost equal but i could not reach the above. It was with Chatrapathi in Jagadamba theatre.

The Great Ice cream Robbery.....

Hah... Here i am again to narrate an incident that took place during my college days in GITAM.
Its about a robbery in which myself and my friends played a collective role to accomplish this. Its around midnight myself, girish, kiran, madhan, venkatesh were awake. We wanted to do some nasty things now. We want to go out and eat ice cream but the clock touching almost twelve there will not be any ice cream shop that will be open at that time. So one of us got an idea to steal ice cream from our hostel mess. In our mess we had a refrigerator to store ice cream and milk. To store all other grocery items we have a cold storage area inside the store room. To add to our luck this ice cream refrigerator was put outside as there was no enough space for it inside the store room. Two of us went down to see if the security is awake. We could notice that he is still awake and the tube lights near the mess were switched off as it was late. Usually we used to ask the mess keys to get water from inside. In the same way girish and madan went down and got the keys from the security saying that they need water. Girish went with a bag pretending that he is coming from other room in the ground floor. They both went inside the mess and opened the refrigerator with a ruler. OMG the key got opened in less than ten seconds. Thanks to madan. They were able to put one case of vanilla ice cream cups and a 500 ml of pista family pack. I still remember it. A case contains 24 cups 50 ml each. They put them in to their bags and came up after handing over the keys to the security. Done we have done it. I have taken over the vanilla case and the rest shared the family packs. You dont believe it i ate 24 cups of vanilla ice cream on that day. The reason is we have to complete the ice cream inorder to leave no signs of the robbery. Finally we have packed all the empty packets in a bag and threw it far away in to the bushes. The very next day we were able to steal 3 family packs of ice cream. Again we have completely eaten it leaving no signs of robbery. But after two days we came to know that the refrigerator was moved in to the store room. May be they came to know that some packs went missing. It was a very thrilling experience i could not forget.
I miss my college. I miss my GITAM hostel....!!!!!!

Great flops.....

Hello i just want to share something about some of the flop movies which i have watched but actually they are masterpieces. Here you go....

I remember when i was in class VII, a movie directed by mani rathnam being released in anandh theatre. There is a lot of hype about the movie as it casts the miss world in her first movie. In those days i was not allowed to go to the theatre as i wish, as my parents are worried about my studies. After a few days when i enquired about the movie with one of my neighbouring friend, she replied that the movie was one of her worst movies she had ever seen. She also said that she was not even able to understand the story line and dialogues too. Then the movie went on unnoticed. A couple of years from then i came to know that the same movie was being played in one of the television channels. With much more anxiety and being a great fan of mani rathnam i starting watching the movie. Within 15 to 20 minutes after the movie started i lost my interest in it. I remember the previous movies directed by mani rathnam Roja, Bombay. I enjoyed the tmovies a lot especially the opening gun fight scene in roja, songs, back ground score, although i do not know about all these technical divisions in the movie at that age. And i am expecting the same sort of scenes in this film too. I think this would have added to my disappointment and i have lost the interest completely in the movie and went on to play withmy friends.

Somedays later i came to know that the movie was a biography of two prominent leaders in Tamil Nadu. And later too i never got a thought of watching that movie again.

In 2007 i have come to chennai as i was placed in TCS. After staying a few days in chennai i am hearing about two prominent politicians who are very famous here. When i have done some sort of research about these politicians i again got an anxiety to watch the movie again. The movie is none other than Iruvar(Tamil) AKA Idharu in telugu. It is about the story of MGR and karunanidhi.Over the years, the way which i watch a movie has changed completly. I came to know much about the direction, screenplay, background score, cinematography etc. Finally, i watched the movie one day. To my surprise it became one of my favourite movies all time. The best thing in the movie is its screenplay. Telling a life story of two friends who are very influential in the state is a very hard job and mani rathnam has done excellent job. The music album is excellent. The director has taken care of many things to illustrate the trends in those days and historical accuracy. One such example is the introduction song of aishwarya rai ( jaya lalitha ex- tamil nadu CM character) is a song which is kind of an audition. In that song you can see the logo of GEMINI films in the shots. This was the time GEMINI films came in to start a production house. There were many examples to say.

I would like to tell you there are many movies which have gone unnoticed but well made movies. To say some examples, SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION has bombed at the box office but it stands at rank 1 in imdb.com. The movie FIGHT CLUB which has brad pitt casted in that did not print his pictures in the promotional posters as it would mislead the people for a romantic movie. But the movie is actually a psychological thriller. The movie too was a flop commercially but after a couple of years has become very famous by DVD sales. RGV's SATYA movie has to be taken out of theatres in just three days in some northern parts of India. But the movie is one of the finest films done by him. Offcourse the movie was a late hit.

So friends who enjoy watching movies i am going to list out some famous flop movies to you. Please find some time to watch them...
